External Halyard Flagpoles vs. Internal Halyard Flagpoles
When choosing a flagpole, make sure you consider what type of system you want to raise and lower the flag. An external halyard has the rope outside the flagpole, while an internal halyard hides the rope and rigging inside of the flagpole.
External Halyard
The External Halyard Flagpole System has the rope on the outside of the flagpole. The rope is exposed on the outside of the flagpole and goes through the pulley mounted on top of the flagpole. An external cleat finishes the rigging allowing the halyard to be tied off.
Internal Halyard
The Internal Halyard Flagpole System hides the rope on the inside of the flagpole. The rope will go up and out of the internal truck at the top of the flagpole. The rope is secured near the bottom of the flagpole with a cleat. The rigging is accessible and controlled after unlocking an access door.
